New Residence Design & Construction
Santa Clara, California
An ancient house transformed into a new modern, sophisticated home.
As part of my services, I often assist clients in search for an ideal property. In this case, we found an old house ready to demolish.
The clients set on building a new one-story residence with tall ceilings and an open floor plan. Several properties considered until we found this corner lot in the Santa Clara area.
Slight angle to the property line became a design feature in the house plan.
Clients were interested in maximizing the floor area, and we used the edge to set against available setbacks and appeared in the main gallery entry to bring visual interest to the space. Skylights placed along the gallery bring natural light to the area and allow less use of electricity.
Rooms are on each side of the gallery, and end with an ample open space created for entertaining consisting of kitchen, dining and living room opens up to the back yard with full height windows and doors.
The house is oriented in a way to gain natural light but not overheat during summer months. Tall ceilings allowed us to have study lofts above the office and kids bedroom.
"Masha helped us transform our dream for a high-end modern home at affordable cost into a reality. Masha listens to your needs, understands your lifestyle and designs a home for your family. She has experience building very high-end modern homes. She worked tirelessly on our project and made numerous versions of our plans till the city and us were satisfied. She made sure that every square inch was utilized, added a lovely meditation loft that has become a favorite getaway for the family and suggested architectural design elements that added a wow! factor. Masha is a delight to work with and easy to communicate. She is definitely the go-to architect for my family and friends."—Akila & Slava Imeshev
